  3. Orsley Says:

I visited Soupy’s studio at WNEW in NYC in 1966 and at KTLA in LA in ‘78 because I was a huge fan. He was incredibly gracious and kind both times I met him, even though he was in the middle of doing his show. As a kid in ‘66 I was just in awe of him, the puppets, cameras & lights, but in ‘78 I could appreciate how hard he worked, how he ran the show, attending to details of production, camera angles, etc. A great guy, an unforgettable show! Thanks for the video, which brings back great memories.

Yes! I was at channel 5, many summer
afternoons, waiting to be picked to be in the studio, or maybe up in The Booth”
watching the show live. Imagine “entertainers” trying to work live on tv today? That’s what made Soupy so wonderful. Alway fulled with surprises, and nothing phoney about him. And yes, he was always gracious and kind!
    Soupy, I miss you!

  10. Warmth238 Says:

I actually remember watching one day when he was at the window with Pookie and one of his caps fell out on the floor. With his back to the camera he picked it up and replaced it in his mouth. Live TV Baby!

  11. Warmth238 Says:

You sing like Jerry Lewis. But I admire your effort. Our whole house was filled with Soupy fanatics. Even my Mother, who when The Mask was finally unmasked by Philo Kvetch, yelled,”Krushchev!” I was 8 years old, I said “Who?”

  12. lisarco100 Says:

I saw Soupy in person at his Paramount Easter Rock and Roll Show. I saw him in person at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, I was there opening night of his Broadway show “Come Live With Me”. Watched him do his WNEW-TV show in person. I was in the audience for one of his “What’s My Line” shows and I shook his hand at a Hollywood Memorabilia event.
Think I was a fan? Miss you Soup.

He was soo good, and was such a natural comedian. I loved him to pieces, always loved it when he did the mouse. Mr Dressup (Ernie Combs) was such a phoney compared to Soupy.
